Gemma Whiteley

Managing Director, FutureMeds

Based in the UK, Gemma Whiteley has nearly 20 years of experience in clinical research. Starting in the NHS where she initially worked with researchers to grow the paediatric research portfolio across the UK, and culminating her 10+ year NHS career with the establishment of an NIHR Experimental Medicine facility specializing in oncology and neurosciences. Gemma stepped into the commercial world in 2017, progressing into senior global leadership roles across strategy, delivery, and operations. Most recently, she served as Vice President of Feasibility and Project Delivery at AES (part of Thermo Fisher Scientific), where she led service transformation and clinical trial delivery, modernized ways of working, and strengthened teams to ensure research truly benefits patients. Known for her collaborative style and people-focused leadership, Gemma is passionate about building high-performing teams and fostering innovation at every level. She thrives on solving complex challenges, driving continuous improvement, and supporting others to succeed. In her current role as Managing Director of FutureMeds @Home – the DCT division of FutureMeds – Gemma leads a global team of research professionals providing home health solutions to clients across Europe and with the recent partnership with Gooseberry Research, now also in the US. Gemma and the team are focused on expanding access to clinical trials by partnering with sites and sponsors to take the trial to the patient.
