Stefan Gijssels
Chair, Patient Expert Center (PEC)
Stefan Gijssels is the Chair of the Patient Expert Center (PEC) in Belgium since January 2021. He is also member of the board of Alzheimer Liga Vlaanderen and member of ProLong, the lung cancer association. His book “De Stem van de Patiënt” (the voice of the patient), was published by Lannoo Campus in 2025. The book advocates for a better and formal integration of the patient perspective in medical practice and health policy.
Stefan Gijssels co-founded and is former CEO of Digestive Cancers Europe. He is a surivor of a metastic colorectal cancer in 2015. Before that, he was Vice President Communications & Public Affairs at Janssen EMEA.
